Plastic Technology

Production department

Our headquarters is spread over an area of 4200 square meters of which 2500 are dedicated exclusively to the semi-finished products. Today we can be said to be autonomous and able to cope with any production demand.
The investments made in recent years have equipped the production department with advanced machinery that, to better meet the technical requirements, have been adjusted together with the designers of the manufacturers, in turn become our customers.
But the largest investment made by the company Barlotti Srl is definitely the one done on human resources: a widespread and constant selection over time has led us to have a qualified, trained and especially young and motivated.
Our technicians are able to operate without distinction of all machine tools and especially on all those numerical control. This has surely take time and a lot of sacrifice, but put us in a position to never have downtime problems and therefore guarantee our clients a continuity and a guarantee on the production process.
At the same over the years have made important investments on the computer side: the collaboration with specialized partners in the industry and the introduction of innovative management systems, we have enabled us to monitor in a capillary production and significantly reduce delivery times.

Quality and precision machining

The processing of plastics to machine tools, given the nature and characteristics of the materials themselves, require special measures: the cutting speed, the clamping systems and tools used must be calculated and designed with extreme care so as to obtain degrees of precision and finishes in keeping with the requirements at the design stage.
Years of experience in the field and repeated experiments have led us to the conclusion that in the processing of plastics can comply average tolerances IT12 belonging to the class: from here the deviations as a function of the nominal dimension can be detected on any technical manual in the tab. ISO 6387-68.
As for finishing degrees, so the roughness values obtained, we can rely on the following table:
Ra. 3.2 MILLING AND TURNING (only on hard materials)
Ra. 6.3 MILLING, TURNING, DRILLING and planing
Ra.12.5 CUT
In summary, we have deepened the following topics:
–          The structure of each single material and its characteristics
–          Its strengths and its flaws
–          Its use
–          Its been on call
–          Its workability
We invite you to still any doubt to contact us: our technicians are available to give you any information that you do not find in these pages.
We also would like to suggest not to underestimate the system with which the pieces are stored in stock:

  • Try to lay them perfectly level never standing or leaning cutting
  • Never let the outside but try environments with mild and constant temperature (neither too hot nor too cold)
  • Evaluate depending on the type of product whether to leave or not packed

Cut

This is the first phase of each processing and in some respects the most important. Cutting takes place by removal of material (circular saw).
We have in the ward 2 automatic cutting numerical control.
We can cut the following dimensions:

  • Minimum thickness 1 mm – maximum thickness 120 mm
  • Maximum sheet width 4 meters
  • Maximum sheet length 6 meters

The best tolerance obtainable by the cut is an average of ± 0.2 mm.
We can provide strips of all widths and lengths that are all within the sectional maximum dimensions and in any amount, even unitary.

Profiling and traditional planing

There are profiles which could be defined complexes that can not be achieved with automatic machines with numerical control: very small sections or with particularly elaborate forms require machining and guidance systems that only with traditional semiautomatic machines can be obtained.
We have in the ward to build this type of profiles:

  • Nr. 2 profiling
  • Nr. 2 planers thick manuals
  • Nr. 1 planer

Also in this case we can realize any kind of profile on any plastic material.
We can work and provide guides of the following dimensions:

  • Maximum length 4 mt
  • Minimum length 0.5 m
  • Minimum thickness 3 mm
  • Minimum width 8 mm
  • Maximum width 480 mm

Profiling numerical control

As we have said on other great pages of plastics and particularly the ® are born to drive chains, belts and ribbons.
The constant search for increased productivity of companies operating in the sectors led to the construction of transport lines of increasingly long and complex products: hence the need to build guides that increasingly meet market demands.
We have in the ward 1 profiling numerical control that can simultaneously work on 6 milling stations: we can also realize any type of profile with particularly elaborate silhouettes on any plastic material.
We can work and provide guides of the following dimensions:

  • Maximum length 6 mt
  • Minimum length 1 mt
  • Minimum thickness 10 mm
  • Maximum thickness 110 mm
  • Minimum width 15 mm
  • Maximum width 230 mm

Milling at the pantograph

The processing at the pantograph allows working details of small, medium and large size without having any problem of mechanical clamping of the workpiece: thanks to a plate clamping system for decompression is possible to work more particular simultaneously, without the need for semi-finished preparation and with maximum optimization of the waste.
We have in the ward 3 pantographs numerical control, one upright and one flag both connected directly to the network with a CAD-CAM station for the automatic loading of the programs and for the discharge of processing times.
We can work plates of the following dimensions:

  • Minimum thickness 3 mm
  • Maximum thickness 300 mm
  • Maximum Length 3 mt
  • Maximum width 1.5 m

Drilling Turning Milling

There may be cases where it is not possible to carry out milling or drilling with the pantograph: in these cases it is recommended the use of numerically controlled milling machines of small dimensions and with very high working speed.
We have in the ward:

  • Number 3 CNC routers (effective stroke 400 x 1000)
  • Number 4 traditional milling head fast
  • Number 1 CNC drilling machine
  • Number 1 CNC lathe (70 mm bar passage)
  • Number 2 traditional lathes (turnable 500 x 2000)

Debugging and other processes

We are also equipped to perform and to manage other complementary processes such as:

  • Installation of Heli-Coil and any type of threaded sleeve
  • Calendering of guides and crankcase
  • Crankcase Bending and panels
  • Welding
  • Installation of small groups
  • Bonding
  • Broaching
  • Printing and Engraving
  • Teeth of all kinds of gears, sprockets and racks
  • Cutting
  • Water cutting
  • Tires with grinding
  • Surface treatments (galvanizing, painting, coating with Teflon, etc)

Polyfill

The POLYFILL® (PE), a registered trademark of Barlotti srl is the most widely used thermoplastic material in the world.
It ‘a sintered low pressure polyethylene with high density and high molecular weight, whose mechanical and physical characteristics they can be used in the most varied sectors.
With the increase in molecular weight increase the mechanical properties, particularly the wear resistance. It is certainly the material that has the value – performance – better value than any other plastic material. Hence the wide range of use in many different sectors from the mechanical to the construction industry, from food to agriculture, from the sporty to the automobile.

Murtfeldt

The company Murtfeldt is among the leading companies in the production of sheets of polyethylene. The Murtfeldt principle: live in the present, take advantage of the experiences of the past, look ahead. The growth and change have always distinguished Murtfeldt. In 1954, Fritz Murtfeldt started the business with four employees, today its production is spread over 17,000 square meters approximately, and has nearly 300 employees who are characterized as their predecessors: everyone is an expert in his field and helps you to enjoy to Murtfeldt worldwide an excellent reputation.

Other materials

The range of plastic materials is very wide enough to provide the designer infinite solutions. The POLYFILL® (PE) can be a good solution in many cases, but if we carefully analyze its technical characteristics, we realize that there are situations where you are forced to use alternative materials.
